WHO QUALIFIES AS AN ALUMNUS?

We consider anyone who matriculated as a student at Great Ife an alumnus. So you didn’t graduate…we claim you anyway and look forward to seeing you

CAN I ATTEND EVEN IF I'M NOT AN ALUMNUS?

You may be able to attend as a guest of an alumnus. Adult guests sponsored and registered by an Alumnus are welcome to attend the Saturday night banquet for a fee based on available seats and venue capacity.

WHO WILL BE ATTENDING?

Well, we hope you will be attending, but we are also expecting over a hundred other alumni.  Previous reunions have been attended by alumni from Europe, Middle East, Asia, Pacific, Africa and across the United States

WHAT’S THE THEME FOR THE REUNION?

Great Ife:  Reminisce | Reconnect | Redefine (3Rs).  We hope to evoke memories of our time at Great Ife, the relationships we formed, the struggles we experienced, the fun we had and opportunities to look forward to.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Please use our online registration page to register by selecting "Register Now" from the menu on the Home page.

WHERE CAN I STAY?

We have selected a great hotel at a convenient location.  It’s within walking distance of a major shopping mall and not too far from the airport. Visit the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dallas Frisco Hotel Convention Center & Spa website for more information and to book your accommodation.

Is the reunion for Great Ife Alumnus resident in the US only?

This is a global reunion event, Great Ife Alumni members from all parts of the world are invited and expected at the Reunion. If you are an Alumnus, you're invited and we hope to see you too!

How can I obtain invitation for visa application for the Reunion?

Information on Invitation Letter for visa appplication for the Reunion can be obtained through your Alumni Chapter President. Please reach out to your Branch/Chapter Executives for more details.
Note that the Alumni body does not guarantee visa approvals

If I register for the Reunion, will I obtain a visa?

The Alumni body does not sponsor or guarantee visa approvals. See the FAQs page for more information.

Can I just show up at the venue for the reunion

We strongly encourage you to register prior to the Reunion.  This will help with our planning so that we can make sure that you have a thoroughly enjoyable experience

Will transportation be available?

The venues we have selected for the various Reunion activities are conveniently located, transportation arrangements have been made for ease of movement from one location to the other.  

If you wish to drive around town in order to experience the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, the DFW Airport Rental Car Center is located near the south entrance of the Airport (at 2424 E. 38th St, DFW Airport, TX) and is served by 11 companies. Click here for more information and to access the Rental Companies’ websites.  

What about my kids?

Although the reunion is targeted towards alumni we do recognize that many alumni would like to bring their children.  The banquet on Saturday night is the only event that is restricted to adults only however we are fully prepared. See the Kids Activities page for more information.

What else can I do in the local area?

Experience the Dallas/Fort Worth area for its fantastic shopping (including outlet malls) if you are bargain hunting, it’s western heritage and a number of activity parks such as Hawaiian Falls and the Toyota Stadium are in close proximity to the reunion host hotel. See the Places of Interest section on "The Venue" page for ideas.

Besides register, what do I have to do?

Nothing – just make your transportation arrangements for Dallas.  We can’t wait to see you!

What type of clothes do I need?

The dress code for the banquet on Saturday night is formal which can be either western or Naija attire.  We want you to be comfortable but we also want you to look good.  Remember plenty of photographs will be taken and your photograph just might end up on our reunion website.  

The other events are more casual but please remember that the summers in Dallas are hot, hot, hot.  People dressed in shorts and T-shirts regardless or age and gender is extremely common.

Can I stay elsewhere besides the Reunion host hotel?

Yes, but we strongly encourage you to stay at our host hotel. This will help with logistics and also ensure that you don’t get lost, and can easily arrive at the various events. It also allows for bonding with other Alumnus 

How do I get to Dallas/Frisco?

By road, obviously depending on where you’re starting your journey, and by air.  Dallas is served by 2 airports – Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL).  Love Field is mostly a local airport.

What is the estimated transportation cost and travel times from the Airport?

Distance from the DFW Airport to the hotel is about 20 miles (Drive Time of about 20 minutes). The estimated Taxi fare is $55.00

Distance from the Love Field Airport to the hotel is about 20 miles (Drive Time of about 25 minutes). The estimated Taxi fare to the hotel is $45.00

Where can I attend or participate in religious services?

Depending on your religious persuasion, we will attempt to identify a place of worship for you. Just contact one of the hosts when you arrive

What does the Reunion fee cover?

The fee covers your attendance at our scheduled events including the food and soft drinks to be served. Alcohol will be available at the bar which you will be able to purchase. You will also get some souvenirs to remember this fun experience; however you will have to settle your hotel accommodation bill personally. We used our excellent negotiation skills but we couldn't quite get the accommodation rates low enough to include the Reunion registration fee

I’m slightly concerned about using my credit card on the internet

We added payment using PayPal as a feature of our online registration.  PayPal enables any individual or business with an email address to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online. Please see PayPal for more information

Why are we raising funds for the university?

Well, we think it is a charitable endeavor. We also believe that by investing in the university we can increase its profile both at home and abroad and that benefits both current students of the university and its alumni 

What if I want to change the information in my registration form after submitting?

Our online registration form is not designed to accept changes and you will not be able to register again without being charged. If you need to amend your form please contact the Registration Team

What if I have special needs?

We wish to make the Reunion as accessible as possible to all. Because situations vary, we will work closely with individuals to accommodate special needs for housing, transportation, etc.

How do I obtain an invitation to the reunion for presentation to the Consulate for Visa processing?

Are the visa fees included in the registration fees?

Visa fees are not included in the registration fees. Visa applicants are responsible for all consular fees

What will the weather be like?

Hot, Hot, Hot!  It’s not uncommon for Dallas temperatures to hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37 degrees Celsius in the summer 

What if I need to cancel?

 You may cancel, however, cancellation will incur some administrative fees as specified below:

May 31st 50% minus admin fees
June 30th  25% minus admin fees
After June 30th No refunds
